What is MythTv?

If your here, you probably already have an idea of what MythTv can do. In the most basic terms, MythTv is an open source DVR replacement. If you ever used a Tivo or a DVR from your cable company/satellite provider you're already familiar some of the functions MythTv. However, MythTv can do much more than any DVR. You can also play music, view pictures, watch videos, check RSS newsfeeds, check the weather, and much more.

MythTv was written to run on Linux. It will run on Mac OX and BSD, which are similar to Linux (at least under the hood). Additionally, there is a version that will run on Windows. The focus of this blog is towards users that want to run MythTv on Linux.
